I
am confident that I am creating an
original style of stained glass. There are
two concepts behind my work, which are
"the change from stillness to motion" and
" Japanese beauty".
I
prefer to use glass in my works because
the feel of the glass and its deepness
enable me to create a wide variety of
patterns of expression that cannot be
created by any other kind of material.
One
unique feature of my work is that the
stained glass I use is backed with silver
and gold leaf, while traditional stained
glass is characterized by permeability and
the color of the glass. My stained glass
consists of two kinds of light: one light
directly reflected on the transparent
glass, and the other light reflected on
the leaf and through the clear glass.
These two lights give a deep and
stereoscopic effect to my work. By the use
of leaf, which is one of the traditional
techniques of Japanese art, my work
resembles Japanese painting.
I
started using computer graphics (CG) in
1992, and since then I have been thinking
about how to create those CG images in
glass.
After I learned about stained glass
techniques, I introduced those techniques
into my stained glass works.
Beauty
changes as time goes by. Mother Earth is
the source of life. Life grows in mother
earth. I want to express the beauty of
life.
I
produce only one stained glass work by my
original design; it means that I do not
produce second stained glass by same
design.
